Welcome to the up and coming 2008 season!

Surfing is an increasingly popular sport and it will undoubtedly continue to grow in popularity.  One of surfing's greastest attractions is that at a basic level it requires just the participant and the surf board, however after the first experience you will begin to understand how and why surfing can take over your life.  Surfing offers both progressive challenges and valuable rewards.

The sport is one of the very few that depends almost whole heartedly on 'mother nature'. As an individual, you could be the fittest, most dynamic surfer, but without a storm out at sea, there will be no waves or surf.

 At Saltburn Surf School not only do we coach in the physical elements of the sport and have had a great success rate in the past, but we also teach you the fundamentals.  We pride ourselves in the fact that when you complete a lesson you will have the knowledge of how and why waves occur and will have some understanding of the natural processes of weather and sea.  Saltburn Surf School still remains the only BSA* approved school in the east coast region.

In this ever busy world that we live and work in, surfing can be 'escapism'. Whether you treat yourself to a lesson or give a lesson as a  gift to someone else, from our experience it will be money well spent.  So have a lesson by yourself or with a group and look forward to enjoying the fun and exhileration of riding your very own wave.

In the past years the Surf School has been used by schools, youth inclusion projects, youth groups and numerous individuals and we are hoping that the relationships formed with these existing customers will remain.  We also hope that our past successes will encourage more schools and youth groups to utilise us.  This year, however, we are hoping to widen the spectrum by inviting corporate groups to take advantage of a sport which provides a great environment for team building and reinforcement of working relationships already formed.

Separate female and male changing rooms and shower facilities are now fully operational for Surf School use throughout the year.  They are also available for use by general surfing public from May to October and weekends through the winter.  The changing rooms are free to use, however, contributions towards running costs are welcome via the honesty box situated within.  A hot shower costs 20 pence. Lockers are free but require a £1 deposit.

WHAT'S NEW

SURF CLUB - We are considering starting a surf club, just as you would go to football club, gymnastics and swimming club, we hope that many will show an interest in this opportunity.  This will be an on going all year round (weather and daylight hour permitting) club.

It is proposed that every Thursday evening at 6.30pm and Sunday moning at 9am every week, the surf club would meet.  All levels of surfers are welcome, our Instructors will be providing coaching during a one hour period. You would pay for five week's in advance which would be £80.00.  Equates to £8.00 per session. This would include all equipment necessary and coaching from our fully qualified instructors.  Please note that we are aiming for continuous training and would hope that parents will continue to send their child/children for the whole season not just a five week period.

It is possible to cater for under eights but parents would need to be present on the beach during the sessions.

JUNIOR SURF ACADEMY - We will now be offering Summer surfing courses for junior surfers aged 8-16yrs.  We are expecting these courses to be really popular so please book in advance.  There are limited spaces so for further details please see Surfing Academy link under latest news to the left of the screen.

FEMALE SURF ACADEMY - We will also be offering a weekend of surf coaching designed by our female instructor for women that want to discover the addictive sport of surfing.  We will be running two courses, one suitable for entry level and the second for those already riding waves.  There are limited spaces so please see Surfing Academy link under latest news to the left of the screen for further details.
